Ty continues to blunder his way into Dawn’s heart and the Mike/Michele pairing continues to be a delight to watch. It’s nice to see Stacy show a gentler side as she tries to comfort Gaia in her relationship problems. We had wondered exactly where the Yggdrasil story was going and having its power revealed to everyone has us curious as to where this could go next.Īs ever with this show all the main cast have great things to do.
It played out like “Chekhov’s giant pile of dangerous rubble” and that the injury caused by said pile of rubble led to Michele revealing just what she’s capable of when she wields Yggdrasil was another great twist. We loved that the pub renovation storyline played directly into the Gaia/Axl/Anders plot. The comedy fainting in the latter half of the episode was brilliant.Įlsewhere Michele and Mike have begun to renovate the pub and Michele throws herself into demolishing the place with great gusto. It is Axl Johnson's 21st birthday - which explains the fire in the sky the Waitemata Harbour being the colour of blood the various women who seem to want to kill him and the sudden need for a family ceremony in a forest. AKA: The Almighty Johnsons S01, The Almighty Johnsons. He knows he’s in the wrong and he really is trying to do his best but only ever manages to make things worse. 'The Almighty Johnsons' It's a Kind of a Birthday Present subtitles.
When Ty wakes up she is near death – and, in this terrible way, he realizes that his love will eventually kill her, so they can never be together.Dean O’Gorman’s Anders is on top form this week. Ty has never loved her so much in fact, he loves her so much, so strong are his powers, that when they fall asleep together, just the touch of her finger on the nape of his neck causes her to start to freeze. Eventually Ty fronts up and tells her that he is the way he is and he will never change at which time she assures him she loves him no matter how strange he is. This is made worse when Dawn starts gently suggesting he might get help for the various afflictions he's lied to her about. But this is Rule #1 for gods: never tell a mortal, so Ty is stuck living in a lie.
Meanwhile, in their own idiosyncratic way, Ty and Dawn are muddling along with their relationship – although Ty wishes he could tell her the truth about his cold-inducing powers. Inside each of the Johnson brothers beats the heart of a Norse god. Which is ultimately bad news for Zeb because later, at Gaia's birthday party, as Axl and Gaia are bonding, the BBQ Zeb is tending explodes, engulfing his head in flames – god punishment for what he should not have seen. A hidden witness to this ceremony is Zeb, who has bullied Axl into letting him watch. On this basis a ceremony is held in the forest in which Axl, Eva, Mike and Colin sign this contract, in the blood of Var, goddess of Oaths. Of course none of the Johnsons can read runs, so in a trail running from Olaf, through Ingrid, the contract ends up in the hands of Ingrid, who assures them it is a simple contract, binding the two families involved. But the most surprising reaction is when Colin turns up at Mike's house, bearing a contract – in runes (special symbols) – that must be signed before the god wedding can take place. The impending wedding drives a huge wedge between the two of them. It hits Gaia hard as she can't understand why Axl is marrying a woman he hardly knows and he can't tell her the truth. Axl, seeing no sense in not following through on it, proposes. When Eva, courtesy of Colin, hears that Axl has been attempting to interfere in her business, she confronts him about it, eventually challenging him to prove himself by marrying her – after all they are Odin and Frigg, right. Anders (Dean OGorman), Axl (Emmett Skilton), Mike (Tim Balme) and Ty (Jared Turner) work the Village People look, from the filming of Season 3 Episode 5 of. From this, Olaf and Mike deduce that Colin is Loki, god of Fire. Spurred on by their date, Axl pays Eva's father, Colin, a visit only to be run out of the house at the tip of a rolled up newspaper Colin has caused to spontaneously burst into flames. The date ends, much to Anders' (and Zeb's) disappointment, with timid goodnights and a promise to call. Which leads to a kind of high-pressure dinner for Axl and Michele, and it is only when they bond over what a prick her father is that the tension between the two eases. Date night! Anders prepares Axl/Odin, while Michele and Stacey prepare Eva/Frigg for their first ever date as god and goddess and, ideally, the consummation that leads to everyone attaining their powers in full.
